As the Managing Director of Speedwings Aviation Group comprising of Speedwings Travel & Cargo Pvt Ltd, Speedwings Aviation Academy and Speedwings Aviation Management Consultancy Services, Eapen brings over 40 years of aviation experience. Well versed in airport and airline operations, he had various assignments with Kuwait Airways at Kuwait.
Eapen joined Kuwait Airways at Kuwait International Airport in 1975 and had extensive exposure in airline and airport operational activities. He is a veteran in Passenger and Cargo reservations, ULD control system, Cargo Flight Planning, Space control and maximum capacity utilization, Dangerous Goods Regulations, Live Animal Regulations, Load Control, Ramp and Safety, Lost & Found, Airline Claims & Liabilities, and Yield Control Management. He had handled all type of aircrafts from viscount to Being 747 including Combi and Freighter operations.
Eapen was trained by SITA (Society International de Telecommunications Aeronotiques) at London in SITA network systems (SITA FAST IV), HDQ Control System and Network Reservations. As a member of FAST IV Automation Working Group from 1988 to 1994 , held project management assignments within Kuwait Airways network on automation (fully or semi mechanization), training and implementation . He is a veteran in IATA and aviation rules and regulations and passionate professional with combined operational and training experience. To his passion, he is a DG Professional Instructor, internationally licensed by IATA and DGCA (Govt of India) to certify all 12 categories of dangerous goods training to airline, airport, cargo and related personnel.
A graduate in Commerce and with two decades long experience in airline operations, he stepped into Travel & Tourism in 1995— a new field to him and he has proved his worth here too. His experience is coming from a rich and diverse career that spans airlines, travel agencies and international organizations like SITA, UFTAA, and FICCI etc .
He is currently the national president of “IATA Agents Association of India” (IAAI) , the travel trade organization responsible for strengthening the network, quality and welfare of IATA Travel Agents in India. He also works closely with other travel, tourism and aviation organizations and global partners to set curriculum and consultancy services.
Eapen was the first Asian represented UFTAA at Passenger Agency Program Global Joint Council (PAPGJC), the apex body of IATA- Airline- Travel Agents, in 2006-07. Later, was a Member in UFTAA Global Education Committee. Also, was in the Board of Studies in Bachelor of Tourism Management, Avinashilingam University for Women, Coimbatore.
Member of certain civil aviation Working Groups on Regulatory Framework to Protect Consumer interest including disclosure of Tariffs and conditions of Services by domestic Airlines and aviation skill developments and civil aviation skill development training programs.
